Job Description
The Accountant will support the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling bank statements, verifying transactions, processing payments, and ensuring that financial documentation is complete and up to date. The role also includes supporting payroll processing, managing accountability records, and ensuring compliance with Public Finance Management (PFM) systems.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Assist in examining payment requests for accuracy and completeness of documentation before certification.
Verify receipts and reconcile invoices and Local Purchase Orders for goods and services prior to payment.
Compile and verify accountability returns and manage advance ledgers.
Maintain primary financial records and ensure books of accounts are up to date.
Prepare periodic financial reconciliations and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
Review payroll change requests and ensure accuracy in payments and deductions.
Certify and follow up on payment approvals to beneficiaries.
Provide support in using Public Finance Management (PFM) systems.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting option), Business Administration (Accounting option), or Finance and Accounting from a recognized University/Institution.
Professional qualification in accountancy such as ACCA, CPA, ACIS, or CPE is an added advantage.
Must be a registered member of a recognized professional body and accredited by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
Ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate financial information and prepare concise reports.
Experience with automated audit processes, including data analytics and financial management software, is an added advantage.
