Job Description
The Accountant will be responsible for managing all financial transactions, ensuring compliance with Ugandan financial regulations and donor requirements, and supporting program teams in resource allocation. The role involves preparing financial statements, monitoring cash flow, conducting audits, and liaising with external auditors and stakeholders to maintain financial transparency and accountability.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Manage and oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, and reporting.
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, statements, and reports in compliance with Ugandan laws and donor guidelines.
Monitor cash flow, payroll, and ensure timely payment of bills and statutory obligations (e.g., URA, NSSF).
Conduct regular financial audits and ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
Provide financial guidance and support to program teams for effective resource utilization.
Liaise with external auditors, donors, and stakeholders to ensure financial transparency and accountability.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional qualifications such as ACCA or CPA will be an added advantage.
Candidates with a Diploma in Accounting or Finance and 3–5 years of experience may also be considered.
At least 2 years of proven experience in accounting or financial management, preferably within the NGO sector.
Strong knowledge of Ugandan financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work under minimal supervision.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
