Our client, a tour operations company in Uganda, is looking for an experienced and highly skilled mid-level Accountant to join their growing team.

THE JOB
As the Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and assisting with tax and audit matters.

  • Perform all accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, payroll, and bank reconciliations.

  • Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and classified in accordance with the company's policies and accounting standards.

  • Analyze financial information to prepare accurate and timely reports like income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and budgets.

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts, ensuring alignment with business goals.

  • Collaborate with other departments to develop financial strategies, policies, and procedures for effective financial management.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions, ensuring compliance with local financial regulations and industry standards.

  • Conduct regular internal audits to identify discrepancies, irregularities, or inefficiencies, and propose appropriate corrective actions.

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management, supporting informed decision-making on resource allocation, cost reduction, and revenue enhancement.

  • Monitor and reconcile accounts payables/receivables, ensuring timely invoicing, payments, and collections.

  • Collaborate with external auditors during fiscal audits, providing necessary documentation and information as required.

  • Monitor, evaluate, and update financial policies and procedures, ensuring their adherence across the organization.

  • Resolve financial-related inquiries, concerns, and issues from both internal and external stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.

The job holder should have the following qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Proven 3-4 years of experience working as an Accountant, preferably within the tourism industry.

  • Proficient in accounting software, with a strong knowledge of Excel.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, procedures, and regulations.

  • Professional certification in Accounting (CPA) level II is mandatory.
