About the Organisation
The government of the Republic of Uganda was allocated grant funds (the "Grant) from the World Bank which are administered by the International Development Association (IDA) (the "Bank") towards implementation of the Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises (GROW) Project.
The Project Development Objective is to increase access to entrepreneurial services that enable women entrepreneurs to grow their enterprises in targeted locations, including host and refugee communities. The ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development (MGLSD) is the lead implementing Agency with the Private Sector Foundation Uganda as an implementing Entity.
The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD) is a government institution in Uganda responsible for promoting gender equality, social protection, community development, labour administration, and employment services. Job Description
The Driver will be responsible for:
Operating and maintaining project vehicles to ensure safe and efficient transportation of authorized personnel and delivery of project materials.
Following MGLSD fleet management policy guidelines and instructions from the Project Administrator.
Performing basic maintenance tasks to keep vehicles in excellent condition, including regular servicing and timely repairs.
Keeping accurate records of vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance.
Ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the vehicle, both inside and out.
Providing transportation support for official visits, including airport pickups for VIP guests.
Assisting with mail distribution as required.
Maintaining a daily logbook and monthly mileage records.
Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Schedule annual vehicle examinations for project vehicles in coordination with the Transportation Department.
Determine maintenance needs and maintain general maintenance schedules, particularly tire condition.
Perform minor repairs and checks on oil, tires, and vehicle condition to ensure optimal performance.
Monitor and update car insurance renewals.
Maintain accurate monthly mileage records.
Keep a daily logbook for each assigned vehicle.
Handle incoming and outgoing mail distribution as needed.
Facilitate airport pickups for VIP visitors and provide transportation during official visits.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A minimum of a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with a pass in English.
Formal driver training with a valid driver’s license/certification to operate assigned vehicles following local regulations.
Valid driving permit of class C, held for the last three years.
At least five years of driving experience in a reputable organization.
Basic knowledge of mechanical and vehicle maintenance.
Certificate of defensive driving from the Ministry of Works.
Good driving record references.
Demonstrated proactive attitude, ownership, and flexibility.
High ethical standards and integrity.
Excellent time management, public relations, and customer care skills.
Strong team player with good interpersonal skills.
