Job Description
Job Title: Plant Operator II (Frame and Body Parts Making) 4 Jobs
Organisation: Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC)
Duty Station: Kiira Vehicle Plant, Uganda
Reports to: Plant Operator III (Frame and Body Parts Making)
The Plant Operator II (Frame and Body Parts Making) is responsible for operating machines and tools to fabricate, shape, and produce vehicle frame and body parts. This role ensures production efficiency, adherence to quality standards, and contributes to the manufacture of durable and precise components for vehicle assembly.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Welding Operations: Perform different types of welding processes (e.g., SMAW, MIG, TIG, Gas Welding, Seam welding, Spot welding) based on specific project requirements. Weld metal components together to fabricate or repair metal frames and parts.
Machine Operation and Fabrication: Operate machines such as hydraulic presses, cutting tools, welding machines, and bending equipment to produce fabrication materials/parts for frame and body. Set up machines by configuring tools, dies, and materials for production. Monitor machine operations, make adjustments, and ensure components/parts are produced within required tolerances.
Frame and Body Parts Production: Perform cutting, welding, shaping, and fabrication of metal sheets and components to create vehicle frames and body parts. Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet design specifications, dimensions, and quality standards. Report non-conformities and production delays to the supervisor for corrective action.
Material Preparation: Prepare and position metal pieces before welding by cutting, shaping, and arranging/stacking them according to specifications. Use tools such as grinders, mitre saws, band saws, and portable plasma cutters to prepare metal parts prior to fabrication and welding.
Safety Compliance: Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents, including wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) such as welding helmets, safety glasses, welding gloves, ear plugs, welding aprons, heat-resistant overalls, and safety shoes.
Performance Reporting: Prepare individual monthly performance reports as required by company policy.
Additional Duties: Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education Background
National certificate in Welding and Fabrication, Machining and Fitting (Mechanical Craft Part II) or a related field from a recognized institution.
UVQF Level II/Trade Certificate is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum of Two (2) years of experience in Welding and fabrication or machining and fitting.
