Job Description
Job Title: Teachers – English (20 Jobs)

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
The English Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, effective, and age-appropriate English language lessons to primary-level students. This role involves developing students’ language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, while fostering a love for learning and literacy. The teacher is also responsible for creating a supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation and personal growth.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and Deliver Lessons:
Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the national curriculum and meet the learning needs of diverse students.
Use a range of teaching methods and materials to engage students in learning English, including interactive exercises, storytelling, reading, and writing activities.
Assess and Track Student Progress:
Conduct assessments, quizzes, and tests to monitor students' academic progress.
Provide regular feedback and tailored support to help students improve their English skills.
Create a Positive Learning Environment:
Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment where students feel comfortable participating and taking risks.
Use classroom management strategies to maintain discipline and focus during lessons.
Encourage Language Development:
Enhance students’ vocabulary, grammar, and language comprehension skills.
Conduct activities that build speaking and listening skills, such as discussions, presentations, and group work.
Support Students Individually:
Identify and support students with varying learning needs, including those who may require additional help or accommodations.
Collaborate with Colleagues:
Work closely with other teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure the holistic development of students.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and training sessions.
Engage with Parents and Guardians:
Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding students’ progress and areas for improvement.
Involve parents in students’ learning activities and encourage them to support English language development at home.
Prepare Educational Materials:
Create and organize teaching resources, including worksheets, reading materials, and visual aids that make lessons interactive and effective.
Contribute to the School Community:
Participate in extracurricular activities, school events, and initiatives that enhance the overall school culture and student experience.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Diploma in Primary Education (Credit or distinction), specializing in English
Certification: Must be registered or certified by the Ministry of Education and Sports in Uganda.
Experience: Prior teaching experience in a primary school setting is preferred.
Skills:
Proficient in English language and teaching methods.
Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt teaching techniques to diverse learning needs and levels.
Key Competencies:
Patience, empathy, and passion for working with young learners.
Creativity in lesson planning and the ability to make learning enjoyable.
Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
