Job Title: Plant Operator II Maintenance (Water and Sanitation) (2 Jobs)
Organisation: Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC)
Duty Station: Kiira Vehicle Plant, Uganda
Reports to: Technician Maintenance
Job Summary: The Plant Operator II Maintenance (Water and Sanitation) is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and monitoring water supply, drainage, and sanitation systems to ensure the effective and efficient operation of water infrastructure and facilities within the plant.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Water Supply System Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance of water pipelines, storage tanks, pumps, and water supply equipment. Ensure optimal functionality of water systems by identifying leaks, blockages, or damages and taking corrective action. Operate water pumps, valves, and related systems to maintain steady water flow and supply.
Sanitation Systems Maintenance: Maintain and repair drainage systems, sewer lines, and waste disposal infrastructure to ensure effective sanitation operations. Unblock drains, inspect septic systems, and repair broken pipes or fittings. Conduct periodic cleaning of sanitation facilities and ensure compliance with hygiene standards.
Monitoring and Inspections: Monitor water levels in storage tanks, detect leaks or losses, and promptly address discrepancies.
Water Treatment Operations: Assist in water purification, treatment, and testing to ensure compliance with water quality standards. Operate and maintain water treatment facilities and equipment.
Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and procedures when working on water and sanitation systems. Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards for water supply and waste management. Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and tools during maintenance activities.
Reporting and Documentation: Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities, repairs undertaken, and water system performance. Report any system malfunctions, maintenance needs, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
Additional Duties: Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education Background
Certificate Level II in Plumbing and Fitting or a related field from a recognized institution.
Experience
At least two (2) years of experience in water and sanitation systems maintenance in an industrial, construction, or similar environment.
Skills
Ability to install, repair, and maintain water pipelines, drainage, and sanitation systems.
Strong understanding of plumbing systems, valves, pumps, and water treatment processes.
Proficiency in identifying and resolving issues related to leaks, blockages, and water flow.
Experience with water treatment operations, including filtration and disinfection.
Basic computer knowledge.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of water quality testing and treatment procedures.
Hands-on experience with drainage systems, including septic tanks and waste management.
Ability to use plumbing tools and maintenance equipment effectively.
Understanding of environmental and safety standards related to water and sanitation systems.
