We are War Child. We began life as a handful of volunteers working in a borrowed loft. Today we are active in sixteen countries - working to improve the resilience and wellbeing of children living with violence and armed conflict.

War Child Holland (WCH) is an independent and impartial international non-governmental organization, investing in a peaceful future for children and young people affected by armed conflict. We strive to empower children and young people while enabling adults to bring about positive and lasting change in the lives of conflict-affected children and young people.  PlayMatters - Sparking Lifelong Learning through Play is a 5-year project (1st September 2020 - 31st March 2026) aims to improve holistic learning and well-being outcomes for 350,000 pre-primary and primary school going children ages 3-12+ in refugee and host communities in Uganda. The PlayMatters initiative is implemented through a collaborative consortium led by the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The Consortium partners include Plan International, War Child Holland (WCH), Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), and the Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) and is funded by LEGO Foundation.
