Job Description
The Manager Finance will oversee cash flow management, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with statutory and organizational policies. The role also involves approving payment requests, consolidating cash flows, preparing financial statements, and ensuring accurate general ledger reconciliations. The incumbent will supervise the finance team and provide strategic input for income-generating initiatives to support Posta Uganda’s sustainability.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Manage and monitor cash flows and the liquidity position to meet financial obligations in line with approved guidelines and policies.
Prepare annual work plans and budgets for the Finance Department and guide implementation in line with UPL’s Business Plans and Policies.
Contribute to income-generating and sustainability initiatives of Posta Uganda.
Approve payment requests within approval limits, ensuring adequate documentation and accurate record-keeping.
Review and analyze general ledger control accounts and reconciliation of subsidiary schedules for accuracy and timely processing.
Prepare and submit periodic financial reports in line with UPL and statutory requirements.
Consolidate annual cash flows for review and track fund availability in bank accounts.
Review and submit payroll for approval.
Ensure correct coding of transactions, post into the system, and review reconciliations to maintain accuracy and compliance.
Support internal and external audit processes and implement audit recommendations.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration (Accounting Option), or a related field from a recognized university.
Membership in a reputable professional accountancy body such as ACCA, CIMA, or CPA.
A minimum of six (06) years of accounting or finance experience, with at least four (04) years at the accountant or supervisory level in a reputable organization.
Financial management and budgeting skills
Business planning and implementation
Risk management knowledge
Change management skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
People management skills
