Job Description
The Head of Information Security is tasked with overseeing the development, implementation, and enforcement of cybersecurity and technology policy programs at UGAFODE. The role involves ensuring that information systems align with the institution's overall business strategies and risk management policies.
The position also requires maintaining a comprehensive knowledge base of users, devices, applications, and software licenses, as well as conducting regular cyber risk assessments. The Head of Information Security will develop cybersecurity controls considering both internal and external users and ensure that IT systems are monitored for timely detection and response to cyber incidents.
In addition, the role involves conducting reviews of cyber policies, testing disaster recovery and Business Continuity Plans (BCP), and providing timely updates on incident response mechanisms. The incumbent will also organize professional cyber-related training to enhance staff technical proficiency.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Oversee the development and enforcement of cyber and technology policies.
Ensure information systems align with institutional business strategies and risk management policies.
Maintain an enterprise-wide knowledge base of users, devices, applications, and software licenses.
Develop cybersecurity controls considering internal and external users.
Organize professional cyber-related training for staff.
Conduct regular cyber risk assessments.
Monitor IT systems to detect and respond to cyber incidents promptly.
Review and approve risk assessments for deviations from approved cyber policies.
Conduct timely detection and rectification of IT system compromises.
Continuously update the incident response mechanism and BCP based on new cyber threat intelligence.
Report the effectiveness of the cybersecurity program and any cyber incidents.
Test disaster recovery and BCP arrangements regularly.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field.
IT certification (e.g., CISCO Certified Network Associate - CCNA).
Specialist security certifications (e.g., GSEC, CISSP) are an added advantage.
At least 6 years of experience in information security within the banking sector.
Proven knowledge of IT compliance regulations, IT and MIS banking policies, and procedures.
Strong leadership skills and experience managing teams.
Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in relevant scripting and programming languages (e.g., C#, C++, .NET, Java, Perl, PHP, Python).
Excellent report writing and communication skills.
High degree of integrity and professionalism.
